If you have a missing tooth, you’ve probably experienced the panic that comes with misplacing or losing a flipper, or maybe the embarrassment you feel when someone asks how you lost your tooth.

Ran into a tree…

Sports accident…

Got in a fight…

Regardless of YOUR reason, we know it’s probably something you’d prefer to not talk about. So, if you’re tired of telling your tale or hiding your grin, maybe it’s time to consider getting dental implants.

Getting Dental Implants

Getting an implant is considered surgical, but it isn’t necessarily a scary thing. We use appropriate techniques, and most patients feel little to no pain after the procedure.

First, Dr. Drake will talk to you about your oral health goals, assess any health concerns around your missing tooth, and come up with a specialized care plan for your needs.

The implant process can take as little as two visits. The first visit will be when Dr. Drake plans your implant, and takes necessary x-rays and impressions. If time allows, he may also place the titanium post, which acts as the root of the tooth, connecting to the jawbone.

At this point, Dr. Drake may recommend waiting for any swelling to go down before placing the crown on top of the implant. The crown is made from the impression of your mouth, so the shape and arrangement will be consistent with your smile.

That’s it! After your implant has completely healed, all you have to do is brush and floss like you would regularly. With proper care, your implant can last you a lifetime. Contact us for your dental implant consultation!
