How can it be that one third of Americans are dissatisfied with their smiles? Discovered by the American Association of Orthodontists, this statistic means many individuals here in Kansas City are likely stressing over stained, chipped, or misaligned teeth. For some, whitening strips won’t work on their teeth, or braces aren’t appealing to them. In these cases, porcelain veneers help many of our patients achieve a long-lasting, healthier look for their smiles.
Benefits of Veneers
We define veneers as wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length. Making the decision to apply porcelain veneers can transform your smile. To learn more about veneers, read on.
Coloration
Porcelain is actually more stain resistant than natural teeth, and so are porcelain veneers. This means coffee drinkers can have pearly whites as well. That being said, you don’t have to worry about veneers being unnaturally white, because each set is made custom to a specific color of your choosing.
How Veneers Feel
As a material, porcelain is very compatible with your gums. Porcelain veneers also have the durability to protect your natural teeth from sensitivity to cold and other eating factors, so frozen treats are enjoyable once again. Additionally, veneers can serve as a comfortable and quicker alternative to braces, by shielding crooked or unevenly spaced teeth from sight.
Smile Shape
A wider smile can be created with veneers that attach to rear teeth, making them more visible. Reshaping a smile with veneers can also positively highlight cheekbones and lips.

I like that veneers are thin enough that many reviews I have seen state that there is not much difference in the feel of the teeth. It would be a really good option to consider to cover the cracks that come from chipped tooth repairs. Also, I bet it would be a great choice to repair the color loss of dead teeth.
My husband has a large gap in between his front teeth, and we are looking at veneers as an option to fix that. He doesn’t want braces, and veneers seem like a great way to create a natural looking smile quickly. I didn’t realize that porcelain was so stain resistant, but that good to know! Thanks for sharing!
I am glad that you mentioned that porcelain veneers are durable and can protect your teeth from sensitivity! That is something that I will have to talk with a dentist about trying out. My teeth are really sensitive and toothpaste hasn’t really helped. I’ve always wanted to feel more confident with my teeth but have been afraid of whitening them because they are so sensitive. This sounds like veneers could be a safer option for me. Thanks for sharing!
It really helped when you mentioned how porcelain veneers are more stain resistant than regular teeth. I can see that taking the time to understand how veneers work can help you feel more confident while wearing them. My brother has been talking about how he needs to get some veneers for his front teeth, so I’ll share your page with him for extra advice.
That’s cool how porcelain dental veneers are more stain resistant than natural teeth. My dad loves to drink dark colored sodas, which have been wrecking havoc on his teeth. Thankfully, he’s been thinking of getting veneers, which I think will do him good with the coloration of his teeth.
I didn’t realize that a veneer is actually more stain resistant than your normal teeth. My mom has a few cracked teeth that have started to discolor a bit and we’re worried that the reason why is because she hasn’t visited a dentist to get them fixed and she’s doing damage to them. Maybe we could get her to talk to someone about veneers and that will ensure that she still has a great smile and doesn’t end up losing some of her teeth.
This is absolutely great! I wanted to have one of my teeth covered after it was chipped due to an accident at work. I wanted to know what would be best to use to make it look like it was before. I like that the material that will be out is stain resistant. I taste wine for a living and I wouldn’t want to stain my teeth. Thanks for the great tips!
Veneers are awesome! I recommend them to anyone who is thinking about it
It’s interesting to learn that veneers also have the ability to protect one’s teeth from natural sensitivity to cold and other eating factors due to it being made from durable porcelain as you’ve mentioned. That is a timely advice as I am trying to learn how I can better protect my oral care nowadays. I’ll try to consult with my dentist to see if I could be checked for a veneer installation. Thanks!
I’ve been thinking about dental veneers for my grandmother, and I think that being able to do some reading would be good. I’m glad you talked about being able to improve appearance with veneers, and I’m sure that is a benefit she’d appreciate. I’m going to have to look for some quality dental veneers and see what I can find!
